A Few More Goodies

I added a few things to my shop Fiber Monster this morning. Hope you find something you like :)

On Trekking socks, I didn't get it done as planned. Right now I am shaping the toe. So close......though. I am anxious to get this pair done and start a new project. I have several projects queue up at ravelry. Plus there are some cute projects from the latest Interweave Knits too. Got to go check my stash!

Trekking XXL Recovered

Trekking XXL Recovered, originally uploaded by Fiber Monster.

I decided to frog the heel flap all the way back and reknitted it as tight as I could. It was hard to do since I usually a loose knitter. My friend thought I switched to a smaller size needles by accident but it was impossible. These are size 1 and they're the smallest size I have in my collection.

Anywho, Trekking XXL is on recovery. I turned the heel and knit over half of the foot part last night while watching the academy award. I determine to get this pair done tonight. Who knows what else can go wrong if I leave them undone too long again!

Trekking in coma again!

Trekking in coma again!, originally uploaded by Fiber Monster.

SOS. Help me! I just did the heel flap for second sock and realized that it didn't match with the first one. I did the exact same # of rows and stitches and it was about an inch longer that the first one.

Tension, my friend. I knitted the first one way too tight than I normally knit. Don't know what was going on with me then. It was last summer in July when I knitted it.

Now, what to do? The thought of frogging it back and knit it very tight to match with the first heel flap is scary. What to do!

New Stash from Madrona

New Stash from Madrona, originally uploaded by Fiber Monster.

We went to Madrona Fiber Arts in Tacoma, Washington this weekend. It was awesome. I took two classes with Judith MacKenzie McCuin. She is an amazing teacher. I look forward to taking more of her class. I attended the Friday Evening Teacher's Gallery and Lucy Neatby presentation. Boy, she is really funny and her work is unbelievable.

I also got a glimps of Stephanie Pearl-McPhee (aka Yarn Harlot). I was too shy to go talk to her but a lot of people did. Have you seen the way she knit? Straight needle in the pit knitting. Got the picture? If not, you've got to see it yourself. This woman knit really really fast. I wonder if anyone could knit faster than she does.

All in all, I was a good girl. My purchases were restricted two large skeins of Kainu yarn, and addi turbo circular needle. Never have enough needles, right? No sock yarn for me this time. Two weeks ago, I got a skein of Lang Jawoll Aktion. Plus my sock yarns stash are stored in a king size comforter bag. Without any new acquiring, these alone should last me a whole year of sock knitting!

Oh, I updated the shop Fiber Monster at etsy this afternoon. There're a few new goodies. I took a bunch of photos of my newly handspun yarn but haven't look at them yet. More handspun yarn on the next shop update soon.

Password Amnesia

Really. I just had a moment of memory loss because I couldn't remember the login password for my blog. Yeah...it's been a long while since I've been here. But hey, I'm here now. Much has happened during the last couple of weeks and they're all good things, in case you're wondering. I spent lots of time setting up www.fibermonster.net, which is closed at the moment. I am moving my store to a different host. So stay tune!

Last week I just got a bump of Blue-Faced Leicester. It's nice and so soft that I just want to roll around in it. I am trying to create a dye notebook for color consistency so that I can reproduce the colors I like. So far so good. It's quite an effort for record keeping habit since I am so bad at it. I usually go with intuition or whatever the colors I felt like using at that moment. But I am going to try something different. If it doesn't work out, I am happy with being creative and get a surprise from what I dye each time. I love playing with colors and what's the point of doing it if it's not fun, right? I dyed a few pounds and will post them at etsy soon this week. It takes a little longer to dry in the winter.

I spun quite a bit too. I took pictures of them but only one turned out.
