Playing with Merino/Tencel

Fiber: Dragon Fruit Batts 80% Merino, 20% Tencel

Pre-drafted

I forgot how much fun it is to spin Merino/Tencel blend until I cranked up this baby from one of my own handcarded batts.  It basically spun itself!

Fiber: Dragon Fruit Batts 80% Merino, 20% Tencel
Colors: Different shades of red.  You can see it better in the predrafted photo.  There are many red and deep deep fuchsia.

Dragon Fruit Batt is available at http://fibermonster.etsy.com

Cheers!!!

Mini Carded Batts...

As suggested by some of you who love to felt, I am adding a new batt to the store. Fiber Monster is now having mini carded batts. Each batt is approximately 1 oz. So hopefully this is the size that is suitable for felting since you don't really need a lot of fiber. Spinner can also mix the different 1 oz batts together to create your very own unique handspun yarn.

So many possibilities...

Store is updated this week

Yesterday, I added four brand new handdyed handpainted merino wool blend to the shop.  They are all one-of-a-kind handdyed in small batch.  The wool blend is 60% superwash merino, 30% bamboo, and 10% nylon.  Have you try spinning this blend? Oh, it is so soft and fun to spin.  Merino is general short fiber but bamboo helps make it stronger.  A bit of nylon makes it a great choice for spinning sock yarn or lace.  Your fabric will drape very nicely.

Try it!

Today I am going to add some BFL and Corriedale.  So come take a look at Fiber Monster.

Food Reading

Yesterday I was at the library searching for fiction to read. These are titles that were drawn to me. I checked them out and started reading one of them last night. The thing is they are all related to food.

I started reading this one last night. It didn't take me long at all to get into it. I am on page 40 also.  There are also recipes in the book. I can't wait to the part of baklava recipe. Yum!

This one is mystery... That's about all I know for now.

I read the summary of this one and want to start reading it right away.  These are my summer reading list this year.  I think I am all set.  Let's get busy reading!

What are you reading this summer?

Summer knitting

I am looking for something new to knit this summer. With the weather forecast of 95F coming up soon, knitting these super cute amigurumi seems just about right.

This one is new to me. It just came out last week, I believe. Click on the image below to a link to Amazon.com. I guarantee it will make you smile :) There's quite a few pages of pictures inside the books. Really cool one.

Here is another book which came out last year.

I saw that the book got some mix review. But I think I will give it a try. If you knitted with these books before and don't mind sharing your thoughts, I would love to hear about it.

How about crocheting some robots these yummy sushi?

I think making these amigurumi is a great way to practice some knitting technique that I seldom do like short rows without having to take on large project and to use up left-over yarn. I am not so good at crocheting but I can practice it with small projects like these.
